Sustainability

Kidson Energy has a strong values based approach to sustainability, with the aim of delivering responsible and compliant, environmental, social and governance practices across all its activities. The wellbeing of its employees, contractors and stakeholders is always a fundamental consideration.

Environment

Kidson Energy is committed to exploring the Canning Basin in such a way as to ensure impact to the environment is either avoided or kept to an acceptable level. This will always be undertaken in a manner that is compliant with the applicable laws, regulations, Kidson Energy policies and community expectations.

This includes implementing practices, systems and behaviours that contribute positively to the environment in a sustained manner. Kidson Energy will look to adopt best practice management strategies and implement continual improvement programs to reduce the impact of our activities. All activities will have defined targets which will be regularly monitored and audited with performance against these targets reported to the Executive for compliance.

During exploration activities Kidson Energy will provide positive environmental awareness through the education of employees, contractors, and external stakeholders. This includes implementing practices that focus on the efficient use of energy, water, and other resources along with minimising any waste created during the planned activity.

Any activity where effective environmental controls or mitigations are not in place to manage the identified hazard will be stopped or delayed. All contractor activity is required to comply with Kidson Energy Environmental Policies governing risk, ensuring that all committed controls are in place prior to an activity commencing.

Safety

At all times Kidson Energy will have the Safety of its employees, contractors and other engaged stakeholders as a priority. We strive to have Safety integrated into the way we work.

Prior to any activity being undertaken Kidson Energy aims to identify the hazards and to implement and monitor the controls to reduce risk to as low as reasonably practicable. This system is supported by developing and implementing procedures for hazard identification, risk assessment and ensuring identified controls and mitigations are in place.

Through this process and with clear leadership that empowers and develops a strong safety culture Kidson Energy believes we can provide and maintain a safe workplace. Kidson Energy Executives will describe, measure, review and monitor targets to demonstrate proactive processes are in place to reduce the risk of harm to people and the environment.

Well trained, competent, and certified employees and contractors are essential for the successful achievement of these objectives. Kidson Energy is committed to provide training, re-training, information, instruction, and supervision to all employees to enable them to perform their duties safely.

On all Kidson Energy sites and activities employees and contractors have the right to stop the job, regardless of position, if there is a belief that the activity may cause harm to themselves, others or the environment.

Community Engagement

Kidson Energy seeks to develop strong and sustainable relationships with all communities its activities may take place on.

Kidson Energy conducts all operations in a manner sensitive and respectful to cultural concerns and undertakes a process of consultation with Traditional Owners before commencing any on-ground activities. To protect heritage values of the region, Kidson Energy has agreements in place that allow engagement with the Traditional Owners to ensure any activity is cleared through a heritage impact assessment prior to any ground disturbance works. Where required, Kidson Energy engages Traditional Owner cultural heritage monitors during the carrying out of any necessary ground disturbing works.

Kidson Energy will ensure its directors, employees, contractors, consultants and subcontractors are aware of their obligations in regard to reporting and protection of cultural heritage.

Wherever possible Kidson Energy seeks to develop community benefit through employment and contracting opportunities to assist in fostering a strong local relationships with communities including Traditional Owners.
